It has been a few years since ETS has revised the GRE format in 2011, and there has of late been a lot of doubt in the air that it might happen again in 2015.
“Is ETS planning to introduce a new form of the GRE?”
“Will the GRE pattern change from this year?”
After all, it has been quite a while, and it is understandable that such rumors crop up among the already anxious test takers.
It looks like there is a multitude of test takers who are worried about this news. Which is probably why many students have despairingly contacted us in the past couple of weeks, to find out the truth behind these rumors.
At first we thought it was a couple of students getting nervous, and asking questions just out of curiosity, but as our inbox filled with more and more of the same question, we decided to get behind this.
To find out the validity of these claims, we decided to get an official word from ETS itself (the test makers). And ETS has confirmed that these claims are baseless, and should not be taken seriously.

They have also confirmed that ETS has no plans whatsoever to make any changes to the GRE format in the foreseeable future. So, what this means is that you can expect the GRE format to be unchanged for the near future.
Now, we don’t know how far into the future we’re talking about, but we can be sure that it won’t happen in 2015. A great news to begin the New Year with, isn’t it?
But we’d like to advise you something: don’t ever believe in any such rumors. Remember that the GRE is a very popular exam, and any changes made to its format will make some news, and you will definitely hear about it from popular and authentic blogs like ours.
In fact, ETS constantly updates its website, and you can also keep checking their site and blog for any such news. Alternatively, you can also subscribe to our newsletter for updates and tips on the GRE. We’d be happy to help you with any question concerning the GRE.
So, to sum this up, this whole thing about ‘GRE format change in 2015’ is nothing but a rumor. A myth is all it is. And just like we busted the myth about negative marking on the GRE last year, we begin this year by busting another myth about the GRE.
You can now breathe a sigh of relief, and stop worrying about changes in the test, since it is not going to happen this year, at least. So, it is time to learn more about the GRE test format, and to hit the books.
Happy studying!
